This author's current daily function is to re-watch Enterprise at the end of the day with his Star Trek Girl ( Tracey )
It's been more than a decade since I re-watched the series and I start season three today. Two down; two to go, and I'm really re-impressed
The episodes are well written and the acting for a teledrama is pretty top drawer - for a future drama. The series not only remains true to the canon, but gives us valuable insights into each race and first contacts. Sure 90% of the alien races just have a few forehead differences, but we musty revisit Star Trek The Original Series as a marker.
I note that Enterprise is a true return to the original series. The main characters are highly-developed and are analogs to the original series.
Archer = Kirk
T'Pol = Spock
Trip = Scotty
Hoshi = Uhra
Travis = Checkov
Malcom = Sulu
Phlox = Bones
The sets are a bit rough; that's OK. We remember the cardboard and foam ship parts and stage sets from the original series. Not an issue. What is remarkable is the CGI used in Enterprise. Top drawer. What Roddenberry would have been proud of - certainly.
What both Roddenberry's Trek And Berman's Trek (Producer / creators) have in common are the morality plays and fist on fist action - that true Trek fans relish. Enterprise is also the most adult series and sexuality is "delved-into... and certainly imaged on screen."
I'm really enjoying the re-visit. Near 15 years down the road it's fresh as it was the first time, and the subtleties lost of the first watch are hitting home. This is my favorite series.
